This year we are capping the field at 150 teams

Anglers will be confirmed in the event on a first come first serve basis.

The first 150 college anglers to sign up will be accepted.

The first 150 high school anglers to sign up will be accepted.

After we have reached full field capacity, anglers will be added to the waitlist.

Last year was CHAOS, this year will be NSANE!

NSANE - National Student Angler Networking Events

The NSANE Tournament is a unique, competitive angling experience that prepares young anglers for success while also bridging the gap between high school and college programs.

We have created a fast-paced tournament format with levels of intensity and competitiveness never before seen at high school and college levels.

We have created a way for students to advance their education and their fishing careers through some of the biggest payouts currently seen at high school and college levels.

High school students must be currently in the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade during the 2024/2025 school year. High school seniors who graduated in May, 2024 will not be eligible to compete as a high school angler.

College anglers must be currently enrolled at their university as a full-time student or have graduated within 6 months of the event and must be in good standing with their fishing team. Anglers from schools without a fishing team are also eligible to participate as long as they are considered full-time students or have graduated within 6 months of the event.

How does it work?

  • Each team will consist of one college angler (boater) and one high school angler (non-boater). The tournament format will be catch, weigh, photo, Fishing Chaos app submission, release. The team with the highest total weight wins and every bass 1 pound or heavier counts.

  • There will be a live leaderboard throughout the tournament day for teams to monitor their progress vs their competitors. Spectators will also have access to this leaderboard.

  • There will be three rounds on tournament day. Round 1 will run from 6:30 am until 9:40 am, Round 2 will run from 10 am until 12:40 pm, and the NSANE Round will run from 1:00 pm until 3 pm.

  • Each team will race against the clock and their competitors to avoid being eliminated from the championship bracket into one of the consolation rounds.

    • After Round 1 teams will be split. The top 75 teams will advance to the SURVIVAL group and the bottom 75 teams will advance to the SUDDEN DEATH group. Total weights will carry over from Round 1 and each team will continue to build on these weights, however they will only be competing against the other teams in their round during round 2.

    • After Round 2 the top 20 teams from the SURVIVAL group will advance to the CHAMPIONSHIP group. The bottom 55 teams from the SURVIVAL group will advance to the CONSOLATION group. The top 5 teams from the SUDDEN DEATH group will advance to the CHAMPIONSHIP group. The bottom 70 teams from the SUDDEN DEATH group will advance to the LAST CHANCE group.

    • At the start of round 3 (NSANE) all weights will be zeroed and teams will only compete against other teams in the same round (CHAMPIONSHIP group teams fishing against each other only, CONSOLATION group teams fishing against each other only, LAST CHANCE group teams fishing against each other only).

    • At the start of round 3 the live leaderboard will be disabled, weights will be zeroed, and teams will have a 2 hour shootout against the other teams in their respective bracket to determine a winner.

Practice:

  • There will be a 3 day official practice period Wednesday 10/2 - Friday 10/4. Anglers, family members, and spectators are encouraged to stay in the Auburn/Opelika area so they can attend special nightly events. It is also a lot more CONVENIENT for this event.

  • High School anglers will submit their fish using Fishing Chaos each day of practice in order to create a ranking system for the draft. High School anglers will be ranked for selection in the draft by the total weight of their best day of practice.

  • Lake Martin is open for official practice Wednesday October 2nd and Thursday October 3rd from sunrise to sunset.

  • Lake Martin is open for official practice Friday October 4th from sunrise to 12 pm central standard time. All anglers must be off the water by 12 pm central standard time and return to Auburn, AL for our afternoon activities.

  • Friday afternoon we will have Draft Day. Draft Day consists of four mandatory events for all anglers: the Tournament pre-check, the Locker Room Recruitment Session, the 2024 NSANE Draft, and finally the rules briefing.

  • Draft Day is MANDATORY FOR ALL ANGLERS. This event will take place on Auburn’s campus in Jordan Hare football stadium from 2 pm - 8 pm central standard time. This is where anglers will pick their partner for the event.

  • Draft order for College anglers will be determined on how many days an angler practiced and submitted a fish through Fishing Chaos.

  • College anglers that practiced and submitted a fish all three days of official practice will pick first in a random order.

  • College anglers that practiced and submitted fish two of the three days of official practice will pick second in a random order.

  • College anglers that practiced and submitted fish in only one of the three days of official practice will pick third in a random order.

  • College anglers that did not practice or did not submit any fish during official practice will pick last in a random order.

  • Lake Martin is open for Official Team Practice Day Saturday, October 5th from 6:30 am to 12 pm central standard time. Team practice day offers anglers the opportunity to practice together, get acquainted, and put together a game plan.

  • During Official Team Practice Day competitors will only be allowed on the water with their team partner. Anglers will not be allowed to practice solo unless prior approval from the Tournament Director.

  • No one except a media representative or official approved by the Tournament Director, is allowed in the boat during Official Team Practice Day.

  • Anglers may leave the boat ramp at 6 am and head to their first spot but may not begin fishing until 6:30 am.

  • NSANE Scrimmage will run from 6:30 - 11 am during Official Team Practice Day. This will be a trial run of the tournament featuring only one round. This is the opportunity for each team to learn the Fishing Chaos platform, ensure the app is working properly on both of their phones, and practice submitting fish. The winning team will be rewarded… handsomely.

  • All teams must be off the water by 12 pm central standard time and return to Auburn, AL for our afternoon activities.

  • Saturday afternoon we will host the Champions’ Gala in Auburn, AL from 4:30 pm to 8 pm central standard time. The Champions’ Gala is MANDATORY FOR ALL ANGLERS. There will be sponsor activities, product giveaways, a silent auction, dinner, guest speakers, and surprises.

  • Anglers are welcome to bring up to two guests to the gala free of charge. Additional guests are welcome for a fee of $25 per person. We encourage all parents, friends, and family to join us for an enjoyable evening celebrating our event.
